My Blog Hiatus

So..I decided after 7 years of a blog hiatus I would blog again.  The sewing studio is so quiet and well, rather lonely at times.  It might be nice to have a blog to express some daily thoughts, share new ideas as well as some sewing tragedies.  Ha Ha! Stay tuned...

In the last 7 years of my blog hiatus, I've continued my Etsy shop and making my cell phone wristlet wallets.  Needs have changed so my wallets have changed.  Cell phones have gone from thick and bulky to thin and small right back to big, but not bulky (unless you add the Otterbox).  I was constantly making adjustments to my sizes - back then I only had a couple of sizes.  I amended this by adding 6 sizes to choose from and so far, this has worked well.  Only drawback to this 6 size option is that I have to make to order.  It's not a problem for me, but my customer has to wait in line.  Sometimes its not that bad of a line.  I really feel they are worth the wait.

I've added the ever popular crossbody wallet in the last year or so.  Essentially, it's a small version of a purse with card slots inside and a zipper pocket both on the inside and one on the outside.  Equipped with a long adjustable crossbody strap.  Enough room to fit your cell phone, 6 - 12 cards (or more), lipstick, cash, your keys and more.

Now if I just had more insight on future fabric crazes..  :-)

The Perfect Cell Phone Case / Wallet

Is this the perfect Blackberry Case or not? I love mine and have been using it since I made it a month ago. I started making these in a different design about 6 months ago for my daughters HTC Touchpro. She wanted a wristlet style that would also hold some cards if she needed them or her Drivers License.

I've added a zipper for coins and revised the tab / snap closure to open more space around the phone so you can hear it ringing and plug in your accessories like head phones, or your charger while it's securely snug in it's case.

Take a look..

The Perfect Handbag Continued...

Is there really a perfect handbag? I found someone's description of what their perfect handbag was and it was a good article. It's a couple of years old though. But it's on my list of things to try...

I did make a nice handbag. It's comfortable to carry, fairly roomy without having the potential to be very heavy and it has nice organization. Here are some pics. I do have it listed on my Etsy store at http://cucio.etsy.com - I made it out of Michael Miller's Carnival Bloom and a nice brown. Have comments? Please!! :) If I can figure out "how" to do it, I "will" do it. LOL

I have one more that I made recently, and The pictures are also below. It is a bucket style - with a round bottom. It's adorable and I used a cute pink butterfly on brown print...! But I don't like the round bottom. I have revised the bottom to be more oval shaped and it's on the burner...

The Carnival Bloom - Measurements are:
15" Wide at bottom - 12" wide at top - 10" Tall - 3" Deep - 12" drop handle

The 'Bucket' Bag
Measurements are:
15" Wide at top - 9" tall at center - 6" circle bottom - Straps are 26" from ring to ring with a 13" drop

The Bucket bag is pretty slouchy when empty, but it's not so bad when I had my staging items in it. I just didn't take that picture... I should have! :)

(Common Kasi, I know you're just dying to comment! LOL)

The Perfect Handbag

I'm always in search of that perfect bag. Eye catching appeal in a simple design, but lots of organization. Just simply a place for everything so I don't have to dig to find something. I want to open this thing up and see everything! Ha Ha

I carry a lot of things in my handbag. All the normal things like a wallet, my cell phone, business cards, photos, receipts, eye glasses, sun glasses, meds, personal grooming items, and gadgets! Everything but the kitchen sink. LOL

So what am I really after? Not a large suitcase, not a brief case, not a market bag... I have pictured in my mind a casual tote style but more slouchy and soft. At least 2 pockets on the outside a zipper pocket too, a keyfob, and a ring for my bag charms!

For the inside, at least one zipper pocket for small items like my lip gloss, nail clippers, bottle of meds etc..., and one full length open slip pocket for pamphlets, receipts, notepad and the like. On the other side, pleated pockets all the way across for things like a pen or pencil, small bottle of hand cream, eye glasses, and a gadget or two.

I can see my wallet nestled right in between with a zipper pouch for my photos, small make up bag and my dime bag...yes I said DIME bag! I'll leave that for another story! It's one of those moments we all have and end up with a story to never be forgotten among friends and relatives! :) Soon I will be listing my dime bags on Etsy!

So......anyway.... why haven't I come up with something - you know, the perfect handbag? It's one of the things I'm constantly thinking about. I think I'm afraid I'll disappoint myself. Whatever....

This week I will pull out the creativity, put on the thinking cap and by the end of the week I hope to have my perfect bag! And of course, I'll list them on Etsy...

Cheers~!~!~Barb
